Emakina/Foundation
At Emakina, we're designers, marketeers, web developers, integrators, geeks. We're citizens too. It's why we don't hesitate to invest our resources in non-profit projects that have a connexion with culture, art or humanitarian aid. For each of these projects, we develop a partnership that goes far beyond the sponsoring and encourages the personal involvement of our collaborators who are allowed to use the full range of our digital tools in this purpose. This way, we want to demonstrate the power of new technologies to empower citizens and build a better world. This philosophy is at the heart of our Corporate Social Responsability.
ArtContest
Art'Contest: Emakina is the sponsor (and the website producer) of Art'Contest, a Belgian competition showcasing the work of young artists who are offered the opportunity to show off their skills and gain a very first recognition from professionals.
This year Art contest exposed in a new place, "La centrale électrique", a well-know place of the art world. To continue in this way, Emakina redesign entirely the website to give it a breath of fresh air.
Close the Gap
Close the Gap is an international not-for-profit organisation that actively helps to bridge the digital divide. The objective is to assist in improving local knowledge and putting local talent to use by offering cost-efficient IT-solutions to projects in developing countries. By supplying developing countries with high-quality refurbished IT equipment that is donated by Western countries, Close the Gap creates practical, social and sustainable solutions that enable people to bring about a true change in their lives through the use of IT.
Once again, Emakina joined Close The Gap to help the organization to find/on finding new enthusiastic volunteers. To do so, Emakina added a new function on the website: windows on the world. This function is designed to offer a view of the competences that are needed to achieve the goal of Close the Gap.
Anonymously yours
In 2012, Emakina and Maison Grégoire collaborated to the conception of an exhibition focusing on the diversity of contemporary drawing practices. The performance only matters; that’s why the drawings, coming from emerging and confirmed artists, are shown anonymously. Emakina.BE handled the development while Design is Dead took care of the design; and together, they created a brochure and the website. Emakina also organized an internal competition and winner could participated to the event.
Ahazaza
When parents of the Rwandan town of Muhanga created a school with headmistress Raina Luff in 2006, they named it Ahazaza - the Kinyarwwandan word for ‘future’. The unsubsidised school aims to motivate children to become Rwanda’s future leaders, and teaches the three official languages of the country (French, English, Kinyarwwanda), using the immersion method. This Rwandan school acts as a social entrepreneur within its community. It supports the country’s development and tries to contribute to long term social change, while aiming to be self-financing. As part of its charity work, Emakina is proud to be the partner of the Ahazaza NGO, providing it strategic and practical support in web communication.
Trans-Mission
As a result of the collaboration between Emakina, Belgacom and Transmission ASBL/VZW, the Plash is the very first portal dedicated to social and humanitarian action in Belgium. Key ambition: be the missing link between the non profit sector and the citizen who wants to participate to humanitarian projects. Once registered on the website, you can create, join or promote an initiative by using multiple Web 2.0 features: blogs, tagging, Google maps etc. The Plash Portal aims to be a real lab for the non-profit world.
